About 250 km to 300 km from the big city.
The area has big farmers with own storage.
Big farmers with own storage and processing line or lines.
Small farmers who will sell whole yield from field.

A DC on the outskirt of the city.
A DC of a supermarket chain which only supplies to their own brand of supermarkets.
Price of the products can be on contract for longer period or fixed on daily base.
Potatoes, vegetables and fruits on private label. Product on label of supplier.
DC can have their own washing grading and packaging facilities.
DC can do only repacking of washed and graded products form their suppliers from other parts of the country. This is most probable. What can the supermarket do with over and under size and second quality?
DC can be owned by the supermarket chain or as a separate enterprise.

A DC / Trade platform on the outskirt of the city. At this DC a lot of traffic movements will take place.
A DC that has a wide range of clients. Street traders, private label super markets, institutes.
DC has its own grading, washing and packing facilities. All the different sizes and qualities have to be packed for the target groups.
At this DC or Trade platform price can be made between parties. A new DC can provide more modern tools for fixing a fairer and more transparent price.
DC / Trade platform can be a private enterprise or a governmental service. Food security for the growing populations in the cities.

Products imported from abroad or from far away.
Products imported by plane: for exclusive supermarkets, special shops and hospitality.
Products imported by ships. Basic part of the daily menu. For example: potatoes, onion and fruits.

This DC has to be situated maximum about 25 km from the production fields.
Small farmers will bring products to a cold store.
This cold store can be shared ownership of the farmers.
The cold store can be owned by an investor or governmental organization that rents to smaller farmers enabling them to store.
A processing line can be present to make the produce fit for retail or wholesale.

Product is processed. Stored, washed, graded and packed.
The product can come from the bigger producers with own cold stores or from the cold store of the small farmers.
Produce will arrive either at DC of Supermarket or trade platform. Both need coldstores for temporary storage.
Packaging can be with own brand or with brand of client.

Product is sent to DC in city not washed or packed.
Way of packing: big bags or cubic boxes.
Sometimes produce comes in 25 kg bags and will be repacked in retail packaging.

Chips or French fries factory. Frozen or canned vegetable factories.
Factories have to be close to the production areas instead of being close to the consumers.
Potato factories require washed potatoes. They don't prefer all the mud on their premises. Water management for washing of potatoes and other vegetables is preferred before delivery.
Transporting to factories for chips and French fries in tip trailers or trucks with belt on the bottom.

Exported by container.
Way of packaging: Rachel bags of 25 kg.
Pallets need to be palletized neatly.
Containers need to be climate controlled.
